Our Team
Megan Adair Casteel, LCSW
President/Owner
Manassas and Virtual
Megan (“Ms. MAC” to many of her younger clients) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of clinical experience and 8 years of experience as a school social worker. Megan has worked with students in outpatient therapy, public schools, and public and private day schools (Special Education placements). She has extensive experience with Special Education, IEPs and 504 Plans. She has worked primarily with children, adolescents, and young adults, particularly with middle schoolers, though she also works with adults. She specializes in working with adolescents and young adults with high-functioning autism, and young members of the LGBTQIA+ community. She also treats depression, anxiety, behavioral challenges, and ADHD/executive functioning deficits.
Megan believes each client is the expert in their lived experience. She works to create a culturally informed and welcoming space where they can share their journey, challenges, and hopes. She uses a strengths-based approach, and eclectic treatment modality, to help each client find a personalized path to their goals. She draws heavily from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Somatic Experiencing, attachment theory, mindfulness, and self-compassion. When working with children and adolescents, she collaborates with parents and caregivers where appropriate, while maintaining a confidential space for her young clients.
Megan earned her Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, and her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She is more than half-way through completing her multi-year training in Somatic Experiencing. This trauma-informed treatment method focuses on calming overactive nervous systems and building resiliency. She is in ongoing training to learn more about the conditions she works with, and how to become an ever-better ally for her clients and community.
In her free time, Megan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, watching movies, and playing board games. She enjoys meditation in theory, and is working to make more time for it in practice. She got a late start learning to cook, but she’s really trying to get better at it.
